Deanna Kent


Deanna spent her childhood writing stories and making up treasure maps for her family. (There are still several hundred pennies buried across the prairies of Western Canada.) Once she (reluctantly) accepted that treasure mapping might not be her true calling, she spent some time at the University of Alberta—and for ten years, she taught high-school English, wrote at her kitchen table, and had a novel published with a small Canadian press. Her next decade was a creative adventure with The Walt Disney Company. She started as a narrative designer for Club Penguin, helping to develop story, interactive experiences, writing for in-game, and growing their social media channels. Eventually, she moved into a Sr. Writer role for Disney Interactive’s Brand and Marketing, and was privileged to work with franchises like Lucas, Marvel, Frozen, Pixar, Muppets, and more. She now consults for agencies and companies to help with strategy, and strengthen brand story. More than anything, Deanna loves cross-discipline collaboration, and to create engaging, immersive experiences. When she grows up, she wants to be Edna Mode.

The first book in Deanna’s SNAZZY CAT CAPERS series, created with Neil Hooson, published in September 2018. Their graphic novel series GLAM PRIX RACERS published May 2021.
