John Barlow


John Barlow’s fiction and non-fiction has been published by HarperCollins/William Morrow, Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 4th Estate and various others in the UK, US/Canada, Australia/NZ, Russia, Italy, Germany, Spain and Poland.

John was born in West Yorkshire, England, in 1967. After working as a cabaret musician, he studied English Literature at Cambridge University, followed by a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Hull University. He held teaching posts in a number of universities, before moving to Spain to write full-time, and currently lives in the Galician city of A Coruna with his wife and two sons.

Apart from writing fiction, he also works as a ghost writer, journalist and translator. He has written for the Washington Post,, Penthouse, Departures Magazine and The Big Issue, and he is a feature writer for the award-winning food magazine Spain Gourmetour.

He is currently writing a series of crime fiction set in Leeds. The first, RIGHT TO KILL, will be published by HQ / HarperCollins in Spring 2021.
