Brett Puryear grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and holds an MFA in Fiction from the University of Montana. His fiction appears or is forthcoming in The Iowa Review, CutBank, Writer's Foundry Review, BULL, and elsewhere. He's an obsessive fly fisherman, and his outdoor writing is featured in Field & Stream, Wildsam Field Guides and Sporting Classics. He's mostly worked as a bartender and teacher, and occasionally gigs as a country-rock musician. He lives in Missoula, Montana with his family.
